Passport Renewal
Passport Renewal for Indonesian Domestic Helpers
Ensure Your Helper’s Passport Stays Valid
Most countries — including Singapore — require a passport to have at least six (6) months of validity for travel or re-entry.
As an employer, it’s important to make sure your helper’s passport is valid throughout her employment period.
Renewing it early helps prevent last-minute issues with work permit renewal, travel plans, or home leave arrangements.
Who Should Pay for Passport Renewal?
Currently, there is no fixed rule stating that Singapore employers must pay for their helper’s passport renewal.
However, we encourage employers and helpers to agree on this arrangement at the start of employment to avoid misunderstandings later on. Since passport renewal fees can be relatively costly for a helper, many employers choose to assist either fully or partially as a gesture of goodwill.
Our Recommendation
For greater convenience and cost efficiency, we recommend that employers handle the passport renewal directly.
The process is simple and can be completed at the Indonesian Embassy in Singapore.
While our agency is able to assist if required, additional coordination and travel arrangements would result in higher service fees. Managing it yourself is typically faster, easier, and more economical — especially if your helper is already working in Singapore.
How to Renew an Indonesian Helper’s Passport
You or your helper can renew her passport directly through the Indonesian Embassy in Singapore.
Here’s what is needed:
Complete the PERDIM 11 Form (available at the embassy or online).
Bring the original and copy of her passport.
Bring the original and copy of her Singapore Work Permit or In-Principle Approval (IPA).
Book an appointment with the Indonesian Embassy (walk-ins are not allowed).
Bring a SmartPac envelope — the renewed passport will be sent directly to your registered home address once processed.
Processing time typically takes around 7–14 working days, depending on embassy workload.
A Helpful Reminder
Plan early — ideally when your helper’s passport has about 9 months validity left. Renewing early avoids issues with upcoming work permit renewals, flight bookings, or embassy backlogs.
